Many high power discharge fixtures can not be dimmed electrically. These sources range from HMI movie lights to HID discharge bulbs use in high bay light and sports lights. One of our answers is the Eclipse IT Iris dowser. The principal advantage of the iris style is that the light fixture is not blocked in any way by the dimming structure when fully open.
